You Will Be Free Indeed!

Moscow
On December 11th in the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Moscow ELCR Archbishop Dietrich Brauer and ELC Seminary President Anton Tikhomirov presented their recently published book - “You Will Be Free Indeed” (“Istinno svobodny budete”).
The theme for the book was chosen quite deliberately. The experience of freedom and of being freed is at the heart of the Christian faith. In the Christian faith freedom has a double meaning – first as an instrument through which we are called to solve ethical dilemmas. Second, freedom is something valuable and important in and of itself; it brings us close to our own (almost -unrecognizably- deformed by sin) human essence and, as a result, close to God. The book is decided to this deep and not always recognized aspect at the heart of Christianity; freedom is analyzed from spiritual, theological, political and social points of view. “You Will Be Free Indeed” is one of the few books of truly contemporary Lutheran theology offered for Russian-speaking readers and in this sense is very important both within and beyond the walls of our church.
